Christine von Fragstein (née Dorn) was born in Ravensburg, Germany in 1971.
As part of the Berlinale team, she created and directed the “Berlinale Talent Campus”, a unique winter academy for young filmmakers for three years. To date, more than 4,000 young filmmakers from over 140 countries continue to benefit from their participation in this programme. Following studies at a private business academy majoring in cultural management and public relations, her path lead from Film-und Medienstiftung NRW, KohtesKlewes Agency and International Film School Cologne to the Berlin International Film Festival.
As an independent curator and consultant since 2006, she has been contributing her know-how from years of solid experience and an established network in the international film industry to film festivals and initiatives. In 2006 she developed the Zurich Master Class for the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland. She is currently Senior Programmer for both, the international and German-language documentary competitions as well as the "Schulprogramm" for the Zurich Film Festival, a promising festival of emerging talents, that draws over 50,000 visitors each fall.
In 2009 and 2010 she was actively involved with the European Film Academy and the European City of Culture RUHR.2010 "Essen for the Ruhr, as she was in charge of the EFA Master Class RUHR and the European Film Academy - Europäische Filmwoche Ruhr.
Since 2000, Christine von Fragstein has conceived and organised events with diverse teams in the film industry. She advises festivals during the programme selection process and development of new events. Christine von Fragstein operates in an international network of prestigious as well as upcoming filmmakers, film historians, critics, journalists, moderators technicians and assistants of each event.
Christine von Fragstein is married, has two children and lives with her family in Dusseldorf, Germany.
